You may be divorced, but did you divorce your house? Too many couples make decisions and sign the Marital Dissolution Contract based on “emotional retribution” or spite, not realizing that they are actually putting their own financial future and the well-being of their children at risk. This can result in damaged credit, hidden debt, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and more. Whether you are divorced, thinking of divorce, or somewhere in between, there is a revolutionary new “divorce coach” in town.

The first DIVORCE THIS HOUSE™ Community Outreach was held February 2 in Cool Springs Mall area. All 50 seats were filled and 25+ were standing!   With a national divorce rate of 50+% it is something that affects us all…directly or indirectly…usually when we least expect it!  Co-founder Kelly Lise Murray is a petite, high-energy powerhouse for the cause. Kelly graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford and cum laude from Harvard law School. She is a commercial litigator, Vanderbilt legal writing professor, Realtor, and Family Mediator. Hearing too many heart-breaking (post-divorce) horror stories…mostly involving the house that one spouse kept in bad judgment…Kelly set out to change the pre-divorce mindset of professionals who represent, coach, and provide services for both spouses. She has brought to light the necessity that congruently-trained Teams must form and work together placing a high priority on whether keeping or selling the marital home is truly in the best interest of both spouses and the children. Each Team Member works within their own areas of expertise toward the common goal of allowing both spouses to move forward with more (more equity…more closure… more confidence…more security for the children…more respect for each other.

Those teams are made up of congruently-trained Divorce Attorneys, Mediators, Certified Financial Planners, Lenders, Realtors, Appraisers, Home Inspectors, etc. The Teams mutually involve a long check-list …on the way to finding the true value of the marital home and/or investment real estate. It focuses on exploring the hidden (maliciously or otherwise) debts, severing forgotten joint finances, etc. etc. etc. This subject is taken so seriously now that…in less than 2 years…Kelly’s training courses are certified in 15+ states (soon to be national) by respective state Real Estate Commissions (RCS-D), CLE and CME (Legal and Mediator) boards. Kelly is booked as the keynote speaker at the American Bar Association in April 2010 (held in New Orleans, LA) to introduce her DIVORCE THIS HOUSE™ topic.
